After debuting in the top spot at the box-office with “Resident Evil: Afterlife,” it looks like the franchise will continue with actress Milla Jovovich in a starring roles. Jovovich told Vulture that given the film’s solid opening, she is ready to work on a fifth installment.
With no other new movies opening, “Resident Evil: Afterlife” took the top spot at the box-office this weekend.
The movie took in $27.7 million in its opening. “Afterlife” is the fourth installment in the franchise and the first to be filmed in 3-D.

The third, and probably last, film in the Resident Evil franchise fell behind the weekend’s new entries “The Game Plan,” which was in first, and “The Kingdom,” in second. The gap between first and second was also large, equaling about a $5 million difference. “Resident Evil: Extinction” could only scrape up another $8 million in additional receipts over its debut last week.
