Director Ryan Prows talks about his new horror feature, NIGHT PATROL, and why he designed the story to be unapologetically oppressive in regards to the brutal treatment of the community by the ethically compromised law enforcement unit.

Building the generational connections with the task force and the family legacy of the residents and the gangs of the projects was an important reflection Ryan wanted to highlight, as well as the real vampire mythology he found during his research into Zulu lore.

And kudos to the extensive use of practical special effects, especially to Justin Long for channeling Tom Cruise for sprinting hard while covered in blood.

NIGHT PATROL is in theaters January 16 from Shudder and RLJE Films.
