DVD Review: “Tales of Halloween” Collector’s Edition

DVD Review: “Tales of Halloween” Collector’s Edition

October 5, 2016 By Summer Brooks Leave a Comment

Tales of HalloweenThis collection is a labor of love for a lot of people, and the extras in this set show how much everyone involved loved being a part of this project.

This set contains the feature film in HD and SD on separate discs, both with hilarious commentary from a handful of the directors; a separate bonus disc with more exclusive short films and behind the scenes features and a deleted scene from “Grim Grinning Ghost”; and a handful of video diaries with behind the scenes peeks at each segment from on set and interviews with directors, cast and crew. There are more treats: a CD of the soundtrack, and a couple of trading cards as a collectible starter pack.

The Blu-ray and both DVDs are region free, which will be welcome to international horror fans, and the main commentary features Darren Lynn Bousman, Mike Mendez, Neil Marshall, Adam Gierasch and Axelle Carolyn (having way too much fun, and making the track a treat).

The picture and the sound are top-notch, and the extras packed into this collection are just the variety of bonuses that people want when buying movies on physical media these days… something to justify the cost, and the bookshelf space, and can provide plenty of entertainment beyond just the feature film.

Here’s hoping Epic Pictures considers giving the go-ahead for a Tales of Halloween 2 some day!
