Rowling Stays With Potter

Rowling Stays With Potter

September 15, 2013 By Sam Sloan 1 Comment

Fantastic_Beasts_and_Where_to_Find_Them_2009_cover It appears that J.K. Rowling isn’t quite ready to stop playing in the Harry Potter sandbox.

Word out of her camp is the stupendously rich and famous author and creator of the Harry Potter book and movie franchise is ready to take on a new film project based and inspired on the Hogwarts textbook titled “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.”

Rumor has it the actual film story that Rowling will weave around the book will center on the the book’s author Newt Scamander and will be Rowling’s first full-fledged attempt at sole screenwriting from her own material. On the Potter films she served mainly as writing consultant and producer of the films based on her original source material.

Rowling suggests that she was wooed back into the world of big screen Potter mostly out of protectionist feelings for her creation. “Having lived for so long in my fictional universe, I feel very protective of it and I already knew a lot about Newt,” Rowling told reporters gathered at Warner Bros. studio. “As hard-core Harry Potter fans will know, I liked him so much that I even married his grandson, Rolf, to one of my favorite characters from the Harry Potter series, Luna Lovegood.”

More good news from Warner Bros. for Potter fans is the word that “Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them,” will be the first of many new film projects between them and Rowling that will be based on more intriguing stories from the world of Harry Potter.

I can’t really say anything bad about J.K. Rowling making this move. If I was in her shoes I doubt I’d really want to kill the goose that laid the golden egg either.
