BBC America has made their pick for the next installment in The Doctors Revisited.
On Sunday, February 24th, the cable outlet will air the four-part serial “Tomb of the Cybermen” at 8 p.m. EST. This classic serial was found in the early 90’s and is one of the most widely regarded of the era. If you haven’t seen it, mark your calendars to check out one of the most fondly remembered stories from Patrick Troughton’s tenure as the Doctor. And if you have seen it, make plans to see it again as we celebrate thirty years of our favorite Time Lord.
Here are details from the BBC America press release:
BBC AMERICA is counting down each Doctor in new specials leading up to the 50th Anniversary of Doctor Who. In February, the special celebrates the Second Doctor, Patrick Troughton, who brought a new energy to the series and his most iconic foes, the Cybermen. Lead writer and executive producer Steven Moffat, executive producerCaroline Skinner, Tenth Doctor David Tennant, Doctor Who and Torchwood star John Barrowman revisit the Second Doctor’s work. Joining them are the Second Doctor’s companions Frazer Hines, who played the fearless Jamie McCrimmon, and Wendy Padbury, who played the mathematical scientist Zoe Heriot. Following the new special, BBC AMERICA airs the chilling classic Patrick Troughton episode, Tomb of the Cybermen. Doctor Who: The Doctors Revisited – The Second Doctor premieres Sunday, February 24, 8:00pm ET/PT.
It should be noted there’s an error in the press release. While most of the complete Troughton serials feature Zoe as played by Wendy Padbury, “Tomb” features Victoria played by Deborah Watling.
