How Much River Will We Get on “Doctor Who”?

How Much River Will We Get on “Doctor Who”?

July 25, 2012 By Mike Hickerson 2 Comments

If you’re a bit River Song fan, prepare to be disappointed.  Producer Steven Moffat says that while River will be back for series seven, she will only appear once.

Moffat says he feels like last year told a big River Song story and that he doesn’t plan to include her for more than one appearance this year.

“There’s also just having River turn up and have fun on an adventure, which is fun too,” he says. “She’s one of the people who can draw the Doctor into a mad adventure very, very quickly and very, very easily. That’s a different way of doing it. Sometimes you’ll just see her phoning the Doctor up and saying, ‘Let’s go see that.’ There’s that part of the relationship too, which is big bonafide adventure,” Moffat says.

However, that doesn’t mean her episode won’t be a doozy.

Producer Caroline Skinner said, “She’s so the queen of mischief in this episode [episode 5].”

That’s actually a good thing. I like River Song but she was overused last season.
