“Green Lantern” Teaser Debuts

November 17, 2010 By Mike Hickerson 3 Comments

The teaser trailer for “Green Lantern” is set to debut this weekend, attached to prints of the final “Harry Potter” film.

However, screenings of Potter are rapidly selling out, meaning some fans might miss the trailer.

Well, we’ve got good news.  The trailer has been released to the Internet. So now you can obsess over it all weekend long even if you can’t get a Potter ticket.

Here it is:

So, what do you think? Are you more excited? Less excited?

Trailer looks good, but I am really underwhelmed by the costume. In the trailer it looks like nasty soft focus CGI. I was worried about the domino mask and I was right. Domino masks just do not work in real life. Just ask Chris O’Donnell!

This is not encouraging, but not awful:

    1. If I see RR half nude one more time… I know they were shooting for the female demo, but seriously…
    2. It’s a little more on the silly side than I would have hoped
    3. I’m hoping it’s just that the PR people don’t realize how to market such a niche film and are playing up the more comedic side, even though it may have a more serious tone.

    On the good note:

    1. Love the costume. I’m sure they clean it up and the rendering will be crisper by release date.
    2. Loving the aliens, especially seeing Sinestro for the first time.
    3. Loved seeing Abin Sur… I wonder if they’ll follow GL Secret Origins and build up to Sinestro War in films 4 or 5… it’d be WAY too soon to do it in the 2nd or 3rd flick… besides, GL isn’t a proven commodity yet.
    4. A lot of space scenes and OA… very niche… hopefully, we’ll see Mogo for a sec.

I can’t wait for the GL animated movie that’ll be in the style of Animatrix with a special Mogo story…

    Rating: ** ½ out of 5 stars…

Conclusion: It didn’t excite me, but it’s giving me a little of what I need to keep hope alive. Again, the TONE in the trailer bothered me more than the trailer itself.
