FanCast Lists 50 Genre Shows You Need To Watch

July 14, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 5 Comments

Fancast columnist Julia Diddy has an interesting column this week, listing the 50 SciFi Series That You Need To Watch.

It’s an interesting list and it could give you some ideas of things to put into your Netflix queue or watch on-line during the summer repeat months.

Of course, I do have to question the validity of a list that ranks “Doctor Who” below such entries as “Eureka,” “Torchwood” and “Warehouse 13.”  They’re all good shows, but “Doctor Who” is clearly a top five show.  Plus “Warehouse 13” has had one episode aired as of this posting and “Torchwood” is a spin-off of “Who.”

And don’t even get me started on the fact that “Flash Forward” hasn’t aired yet…

Never mind the fact that Doctor Who never made the top 10 (nor did Firefly or Babylon 5), but Smallville did?

I’m not dissing on Smallville (I’ve been watching for far too long), but IMHO, it’s by no means anywhere near a Buffy, Firefly or Farscape.

So the article says “50 Sci Fi Things You Must Watch Now!!!”….yet they list a show that hasn’t even aired yet, Flash Forward? At least they state the list is in no particular order, but it’s only natural for people to assume that a list from 50 to 1 is going to be in some sort of order. If it isn’t in any particular order, why number them?

What a stupid list. Lists Warehouse 13 which just started, lists Caprica which has only the pilot has been released. Babylon 5 that far down on the list? That much lower than Eureka and Smallville!! How the hell did Smallville get that high on the list! This person is a moron.

In the opening paragraph the author states “in no particular order” so where items are on the list doesn’t really matter. 🙂
