SCI FI Wire is reporting that game developer Wizards of the Coast has reached an agreement with Lucasfilm Ltd. that will allow the Seattle-based company to continue producing the Star Wars Miniatures and Star Wars Role-Playing Game titles for several more years. The new contract also allows Wizards of the Coast to develop new products and expansion sets for its Star Wars games and accessories.
The Star Wars Miniatures game allows players to collect and build squads from hundreds of characters within the Star Wars universe. The pllayer then compete against another player in head-to-head, skirmish-style battles. The Star Wars Role-Playing Game allows players to create and star in their own chapter of the Star Wars saga.
Wizards of the Coast is also planning special events and new products to celebrate the franchise’s 30th anniversary in 2007, the company said.
