The genre of Science Fiction and the Supernatural Drama will be no stangers at the 2005 Emmys this year. Hollywood has taken notice and is getting on the small-screen bandwagon by nominating 5 leading shows in the drama category.

In my experience this is the first time that this many programs within the genre have shared top spots as nominees in one season.

“Lost,” the ABC sci-fi/fantasy action drama centered around a motley group stranded on an unknown island garnered 12 nominations by the members of the TV Academy.

Other nominees include:

Kiefer Sutherland for Best Actor in a Drama (24 – FOX)
Jennifer Garner for Best Actress in a Drama (Alias – ABC)
Patricia Arquette for Best Actress in a Drama (Medium – NBC)
The 4400 for Best Miniseries – Drama (USA Network)

The Emmy Awards are scheduled to air September 18, 2005 on CBS.
