2011 Genre Emmy Winners

2011 Genre Emmy Winners

September 19, 2011 By Sam Sloan 5 Comments

The Emmy winners list is a tad shorter this year over past times when Battlestar Galactica ruled the universe. However, there were some big category winners and a few in the areas most always won by genre-related programming. Here are this year’s 2011 Emmy winners.

As we already headlined last night: Jim Parsons, who plays Dr. Sheldon Cooper on “The Big Bang Theory” walked away with the Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.

This year’s surprise came in the dynamite thespian package know as Peter Dinklage. He gained the statue for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for HBO’s highly successful and visually stunning “Game of Thrones.”

Outstanding Sound Editing for a Miniseries, Movie or a Special went to “The Pillars of the Earth.”

Finally, the last genre-related winner was “Family Guy” for its Outstanding Sound Mixing for a Comedy or Drama Series and Animation.

Hell yeah… Peter was going to win this one. He had to or they would have had a riot on their hands. 😉

I’m glad the Dink won this won, but he did have some solid competition in this category. If you watched “Justified” this year (and if you didn’t shame on you!), Walton Goggins was amazing.

That said, it will be tough for the Dink to repeat. Aaron Paul and Giancarlo Esposito are having amazing seasons on TV’s best show, “Breaking Bad.”

@ Julio – I always do that damn it. I’m showing my age by naming him Sheldon Leonard. There was a great character actor in the 40’s & 50’s named Sheldon Leonard who also became one of the biggest TV producers in the 1960’s & 70’s. I automatically did the same thing when I posted the Parsons Emmy win stand alone article.

    Fixed.
