The re-energized "Eureka" has been one of the highlights of the summer for many of the crew here at Slice of SciFi.
And the good news is that we'll get more of the quirky town in our future. SyFy has given the green light for a fifth season of the hit series.

There will be a lot of new network shows debuting in one month and after looking at the long list, I'm not overly enthusiastic. However, there were a few stand-outs that made my list of "Must See TV," at least for the pilot episodes. Here are my 'off-the-top-of-my-head' picks for the 2010-2011 new shows (in [...]
Oscar-winning director James Cameron believes that 3-D is the next big jump for filmmaking, adding that he sees a day when it will be as ubiquitous as color or sound in films.
"I’m talking about a future when you don’t have to put “in 3D” on the movie poster anymore, the same way that you don’t put “in color” on posters anymore. Imagine that point in time, when 3D is just a natural, innate part of viewing," Cameron tells Entertainment Weekly.
At the recent Star Wars event celebrating 30 years of "The Empire Strikes Back," George Lucas announced that the popular movie series was headed to Blu-Ray next year with an all-new set of special features. (And apparently not a remastered version of the original cut of the films....)
One of the promised extras was deleted scenes from the films. And to tease things, Lucas unveiled a scene that served as Luke's initial introduction in "Return of the Jedi."
Best-selling science-fiction writer Ray Bradbury says that the effort being put into creating the next new gadget could be better used toward exploring our universe and heading back to the moon.
"[President Barak Obama] should be announcing that we should go back to the moon,” he tells the LA Times. “We should never have left there. We should go to the moon and prepare a base to fire a rocket off to Mars and then go to Mars and colonize Mars. Then when we do that, we will live forever."
As the universe of "Warehouse 13" continues to expand in it second season, the series adds another recurring character this evening. The character is Dr. Vanessa Calder, an in-house doctor for the warehouse, who is played by the original "Bionic Woman," Lindsay Wagner. "Dr. Calder is being based around what's happening today and what is [...]
Do you love the works of sci-fi giant Ray Bradbury?
Probably not as much as Rachel does.
Rachel has created a music video in which she expresses her desire to meet and be intimate with popular writer.
If you're hoping to see streaming video of shows and movies featured on HBO via Netflix, don't get your hopes up.
The cable outlet has decided it won't offer streaming content to the popular on-line rental service.

This week, Kreg Steppe takes a look at one his favorite genre movies, Silent Running.
silentrunningDo you have one of those moments in time, as a kid, where in that moment all was right with the world? I do. In fact I have a few of them. Boiling them down I would say that the majority of them involved spending the night at another kids house, staying awake way too late talking, and possibly watching TV shows that you were not supposed to watch (read HBO).
Astronauts Douglas Wheelock and Tracy Caldwell Dyson completed repairs to the International Space Station Monday by making their third space walk in a week.
The astronauts wrapped up repairs to a faulty cooling system as they circled 220 miles (355 kilometers) above Earth.
While there's an official button to like something on Facebook, there still isn't an official button to dislike things. And while the social networking site may implement one in the future, a new phishing expedition is currently taking advantage of people's desire to have a dislike button.
Be warned: if you see a link to dislike something on Facebook, don't click on it. The link is a scam that will try to extract your personal data.
This spring, SyFy brought us the 13 episode run of "Merlin"'s second season.
The BBC produced series conjured up solid ratings for the cable outlet and it appears that Merlin has found a home (for now).

The latest installment in the long-running "Stargate" franchise proved divisive among fans right out of the gate. From its first episode, the series affirmed that this wasn't your typical "Stargate" series, boldly going in a new, darker, more character driven direction for the franchise. And while some fans were hesitant to embrace the new direction for the franchise, those who did were treated to a compelling ride, especially as the series hit its stride and never looked back.
The ten episodes collected together for "Stargate: Universe Season 1.5" show the series hitting its stride and never looking back.
When SyFy announced that the second half of "Caprica"'s first season wouldn't air until 2011, many of us were confused by the news (especially given that SyFy had previously announced the second half would air this summer).
Add to those confused, executive producer David Eick.
