Sam says
Excited? Sure, why not!
Robin says
Not particularly. I don’t own a Blu-Ray player and don’t plan to in the foreseeable future. And I’m just going to assume that the original trilogy will be the not-so-original versions, because that’s what Lucas wants.
Michael Falkner says
I’m skeptical on this. While it would be cool to have the saga on BD, I don’t want to sink money into another set of discs just to have a bigger and better version pop up five years from now.
Tim says
No original version, no purchase.
Summer Brooks says
What Adamec said.
It’s the main reason I’m keeping a working laserdisc player around (although I may end up selling my second one soon).
Maybe I should record my laserdisc to DVD, just in case…
Dave in NY says
I’d prefer the original cuts of the 1997 SE cuts.
But, who am I kidding, I’ll still buy both versions on Blu-Ray!
We better get the Theatrical Original Han Shoots First Cuts on Blu-Ray soon though! Until then, I’m keeping my DVD Sets.
tensaibaka says
According to Engadgets article, Lucas does not plan to release the original cuts of Episodes IV-VI because “restoring the original versions in high enough quality…”
So, no Blu-Rays for me. I want to see all the deleted scenes, but I’m not going to purchase an entire new box set just to do so. I’ll either borrow somebody else’s box set, or find some “other way” to see them.
tensaibaka says
Oops, I didn’t finish that Lucas quote. It should read, “…restoring the original versions in high enough quality would cost too much…”
Sam Sloan says
As I stated in my first posting, yes I suppose I could be excited, but as far as actually purchasing the blu-ray editions – not likely at this point. I think I will wait until the Holodeck Director’s Cut versions. Now those would be worth the money.
Jonathan says
I will buy them. I probably prefer the SE cuts (except the Greedo scene) but I would rather pay more and get both cuts. I have money in my pocket George! I want to buy both editions!
Kurt says
I have a Blu-Ray player and I don’t care. We now know the original versions will not be on Blu-Ray so Lucas will be selling one less Blu-Ray DVD set.
Kurt_eh says
I’m with Tim.
Michael Autin says
Blu-Ray is a great venue for space movies and films where nature shots are used. Jurrasic Park is also another good medium. Releasing everything in Blu-Ray is silly as non special effects are lost in the high definition. Sure old movies may look crisp, but the special effects are really highlighted, and therefore the Star Wars movies in Blu-Ray is a worthwhile viewing.
