Film historian Chris Alexander returns to share details on his newest book, Art! Trash! Terror!: Adventures in Strange Cinema, a tome full of in-depth essays and enlightening interviews that celebrate some of the most eccentric and unforgettable movies in cult cinema history.

Chris talks about his history of movie viewing, how it influenced his writings about film and filmmakers, and the people he’s talked to over the years about creating these offbeat works. And our deep dive into the original Twilight Zone is more than fun enough to be the start of its own book. And yes, we need a proper complete release of HBO’s The Hitchhiker on DVD.

From recognized classics (George A. Romero’s Dawn Of The Dead, David Lynch’s The Elephant Man) to misunderstood masterpieces (Michael Mann’s The Keep, Boris Sagal’s The Omega Man) to unfairly maligned curios (Kostas Karagiannis’ Land Of The Minotaur, Brett Leonard’s Hideaway), Chris takes an alternately serious and playful but always personal look at several strains of international horror, dark fantasy, and exploitation.

Also in the book are insightful interviews with revered talents, such as John Waters, Michael Winner, Nicolas Cage, Gene Simmons, William Crain, William Lustig, Werner Herzog and many others, collected over the years from Chris’ time as editor-in-chief with both Fangoria and Delirium.

Art! Trash! Terror! is the ultimate guide to bizarre movies. And don’t miss our interview with Chris about Corman/Poe, a book about the Roger Corman 1960s adaptations of Edgar Allan Poe stories.
