Writer-director Mike Hayhurst and actor-writer Joseph Lymous talk about their indie fantasy-satire And Through The Portal We Go, a smart, sly look at cults, quests of faith and personal growth.

The film follows Katie, Craig and Mikey, as the last three members of a cult who are expecting to successfully follow the rest of their group through a glowing portal in the woods into a new transcendent state… only to discover themselves back at the beginning of that last day over and over again. Processing what they believe has gone awry and their attempts to “fix” anything and everything so that can pass through the portal into transcendence begins a journey to self-discovery none of them thought they’d travel.

Mike and Joseph talk about making the movie, how most of the dialogue was improvised to allow for the organic conversations and interactions, how the music enhances the characters mental and emotional states, and more.

More details about the score and the music:
Composer: Judith Moy Original Score
Music from: Ray Duncan, Kuko, Julia Mendes, West Side Waltz

And Through The Portal We Go will be screening at the Phoenix Film Festival on:
Friday, April 4 – 5:35 PM
Saturday, April 5 – 11:40 AM
Sunday, April 6 – 9:15 AM

Here’s hoping there will be a physical release with all the bonus features!
