Director James Bamford talks about his indie scifi action-thriller Utopia, where a former special ops soldier has to infiltrate a high tech human trafficking organization in search of his missing wife.

James talks about his background as a martial arts stunts performer and how that led to his move into stunt coordinator and then into directing.

We also talk about what went into building the world of Utopia, getting the look of both the past and future elements just right, and the behaviors of the “models” to reflect the question of whether the fight is against neural programming or growing sentience.

Keep an eye out for a Jason Momoa Conan-related Easter egg at the beginning!

Utopia is available on digital December 10 from Republic Pictures (a Paramount Pictures label)
