This week, Robert K. Jeffrey and Tuere Ganges from BlackSci-Fi.com sit down at the geek’s table for a chat about Black Lightning. We talk about how a story set adjacent to The CW’s Arrowverse (they’ve mentioned Supergirl more than once) is arguably the blackest show on television, by not shying away from shocking and accurate the social and cultural portrayals have been of a community trying to survive while fighting off the siege mentality of being constantly under surveillance, under attack, over policed and literally corralled by overseers from more than one strata of power (local, state, judicial, governmental, and secret governmental).

And as a bonus, we have some exceptional quips, startling sass, and outrageous fights and boss level egregious behavior. And we’re only 2 episodes into Season 2 so far. One day, we might just have to have a chat just about the music selection for this show, too.

Check out their reviews so far (and stay tuned for our “5 Episodes In” for Season 2):

Black Lightning: The Book of Consequences Chapter 2: Black Jesus Blues

And the comics Robert recommended:

Plus, both Iron Fist and Luke Cage have been cancelled, leaving us with 3 Marvel shows on Netflix, and there are many questions about whether we’ll get more beyond what’s already been produced. Daredevil Season 3 just dropped, and we know that The Punisher Season 2 and Jessica Jones Season 3 are both on deck for 2019. Will we get more of those shows? Will we see either Heroes for Hire or Daughters of the Dragon on Netflix? Or is this the first salvo of all the Marvel TV shows moving to Disney’s upcoming streaming service?
