Move Indoor Gaming To the Playground HybridPlay promotes outdoor physical activity, verbal communication, and teamwork

November 24, 2014 By S. K. Sloan Leave a Comment

One of the biggest complaints parents and grandparents have about kids playing video games is the fact that playing these games keeps kids from going outside to play and get the needed sunshine and physical activity necessary for child development. While the positive aspects of gaming included increases in acuity and attention to detail the downside has always been the sedentary effect of just sitting around pushing buttons on a console for hours at a time.

According to HYBRIDPLAY those concerns are now a thing of the past. The Spanish company is developing a new video gaming platform that will blend these two opposites to form an attraction that will both entertain, educate and mentally stimulate kids while they are also at play outdoors.

“Too many kids nowadays are no longer playing outdoors,” said a HYBRIDPLAY representative. “They are inside playing games on phones and tablets. Video games are a fun and enriching tool, but with HYBRIDPLAY, we can go a step further and make games not only mentally challenging, but physically engaging as well.”

The concept is quite simple and it is a wonder no gaming company has thought of it until now. HYBRIDPLAY comes with a wireless sensor that you clip to any kid of playground equipment such as swing sets, seesaws and even static elements such as sliding boards. Once clipped into place you start the app and let the kids begin to play. The playground equipment becomes the games controller and the actions taken by the player while on the equipment affects the outcome of the game being played. It is the first ever true integration of actual physical play and exercise with virtual gaming. HYBRIDPLAY is both customizable and weather-resistant and is compliant with DfA.
