A New Reason To Not Go Near the Water

A New Reason To Not Go Near the Water

January 14, 2014 By Sam Sloan 1 Comment

On June 1, 1975 Steven Spielberg gave everyone a reason not to go near the water with his mega-hit “Jaws.” The ripples it sent throughout beachfront resorts and their loss of summer in the fun families dipping their feet into the shoreline was palpable and lasted for years. Today there may be a new reason to not go near the water.

Actor turned shock-fest screenwriter/director Brandon Slagle (Wonderland, The Dark Avengers) has created a low-budget horror film called “Dead Sea” (originally titled “Black Lagoon”) that may give wanderers into the deep blue a moment of pause before treading into those fetching waves. A Marine Biologist is assigned to investigate the mysterious deaths of marine life on an inland salt-water lake that have been attributed to a creature thought to have been the stuff of legend. This creature supposedly makes a return to the island waters every thirty years and when it does carnage ensues.

Slagle makes an appearance in his film along with co-stars Alexis Iacono (The Black Dahlia Haunting), James Duval (Independence Day), Candace Kita (Revenge), Devanny Pinn (Gone Dark) and David Dossett (Suburgatory).

“Dead Sea” debuts on Blu-ray and DVD May 13, 2014 – Just in time to hit the beach.
