ABC gave the green light last week for a full season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
The show got off to a huge start last month, beating out CBS’s powerhouse drama NCIS. Since that time the show has held its own in a competitive time period and the DVR numbers have been solid enough to warrant ABC picking it up for a full season of 22 episodes.
The show was the highest rated new drama in nearly four years when it debuted. Subsequent episodes have dropped notably from that perch, yet this week’s entry still ranked second in the hour with 7.9 million viewers and a 2.9 adults 18-49 rating.
This will be the first Joss Whedon series since Angel to get a full 22 episode season.
S.H.I.E.L.D. airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. EST on ABC.
Are you pleased that the series has got a full season pick-up? Do you plan to stick around for the full season?
While I am watching the series, and I think it’s ok. It is kind of boring in places.
I’m going to keep watching it, because it’s made by Joss Whedon, but so far the series has been unimpressive. I think it might have something to do with the characters being somewhat annoying, cliched, and boring.
Hopefully it’ll improve.
I think it will improve much over the rest of the season. Now that the rough edges of each character becoming familiar with one another and working together, along with the mystery that is Skye and all that that can bring forth in the way of drama will only enhance the directions the Whedon boys can go with the production. If only FOX would have allowed Whedon to do the same with Firefly I’d bet we still be watching new episodes of Mal and the gang misbehavin’ in space.
I have been keeping up with the show with on demand and watching the episodes. I think it could go far once the characters “gel” a little more just like any series as Samuel said above. I also agree with DanVzare about the “dead” spots, but again as the show matures I believe it will improve. Look back at Fringe it had a rough start but held its own for 5 seasons, I will admit that the last season of Fringe went way out in terms of the shows origins.
