What’s Next For “Arrow?”

What’s Next For “Arrow?”

July 21, 2013 By Mike Hickerson Leave a Comment

Actor Stephen Amell says he’s noticed one big difference between last year’s San Diego Comic Con and this year’s  — last year he could walk around the convention largely unnoticed.

That isn’t the case for the actor this year.

As Arrow begins work on its second season, which will debut on the CW this fall, several members of the cast and crew of the series took to the stage at Comic Con to drop a few hints about what we can expect in the series’ sophomore season.  Joining Amell on stage were Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg, Marc Guggenheim and Katie Cassidy.

Kreisberg says that season will track Oliver Queen going from being the Arrow to becoming Green Arrow.  Calling the new season “epic,” Kreisberg hinted that the title of the season premiere gives hints about the character arc in season two.  The season premiere is called “City of Heroes.”

The new season will pick up five months after the events of the season one finale and find many of the characters in a very different place.  One of the most obvious differences could come for Detective Lance, who may be demoted to a beat cop.

Footage screened included a new look at Felicity (played by Emily Beth Rickards) setting up a new lab as well as a glimpse of recurring guest star Summer Glau.  Fans were also teased with footage of a masked woman who may or may not be Black Canary.

Producers hinted that the season may see the start of the Black Canary arc but that the storyline on Arrow may not precisely follow what unfolded in the comics.  That could mean that Black Canary in this universe is not Laurel.

Amell went on to add that Oliver’s arc this season would be heavily informed by the death of Tommy in the season finale.  Amell stated that Tommy’s death will influence everything that Oliver does in season two.

Arrow returns to the CW this fall.
