Smith Teases 50th Anniversary Story

Smith Teases 50th Anniversary Story

March 20, 2013 By Mike Hickerson 4 Comments

Matt Smith has seen the script for the upcoming 50th anniversary Doctor Who special and he says it delivers.   Smith even hints that one of the central questions the show has asked for fifty years may get answered.

“It sort of does what it says on the tin,” Smith tells the UK’s Bingham Mail. “You won’t be disappointed. I think it’s hilarious, I think it’s epic and I think it’s fast, and I’m telling you nothing more – but you will NOT be disappointed. I think it’s going to be the biggest, best, most inventive and most exciting year for the show and I think this script delivers on all those points that you want it to for where the show is at this time, it’s brilliant.”

The news comes on the heels of producer Steven Moffat saying that upcoming eight episode run will answer some questions about the Doctor.

Smith goes so far as to hint that the anniversary special will answer the question of the Doctor’s name.

Looks like it may be a long wait until we find out just what is revealed in November.  Until then, we’ve got eight new installments kicking off on March 30 to tide us over.

No, you can’t tell us his name. YOU CAN’T!!!
It’s all about the mystery. His name IS The Doctor!
    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
    …
    Hmm…
It says it answers questions about The Doctor. Maybe it might say how he first got the Tardis, what his job used to be on Gallifrey, and who his family was. Let’s face it, those are the questions we WANT to know.

I thought he “borrowed” the TARDIS, that was part of why it the thing is stuck in one shape and at one time it had major issues with navigation… it was “in the shop” at the time, and is not intended to have a single pilot.

but I could be wrong (and much of that is probably old fan speculation)

Borrowing implies the eventual intention to return the item that was taken….. Sexy believes he stole her and she stole him and never intends to give him back. So…..

I don’t know what the big deal is with this?

          His name is Roy.

          He’s a Janitor by trade.

He was on the Tardis trying to unclog a particularly nasty toilet and when it broke loose, it opened a riff in the dimensional plane and “Flushed” his universe into it.

Again people, don’t know what the big deal is here.
