“Falling Skies” Renewed

July 12, 2012 By Mike Hickerson 4 Comments

Looks like the alien occupation will continue for at least one more season.

TNT has given the green light to a third season of their genre series Falling Skies.

EW reports that the cable outlet has signed off on a ten episode third season of the Noah Wiley hit.  The show is currently averaging 5.9 million viewers when including DVR playback.

I wish they’d give them the green light for a FULL SEASON! I hate these piddly little 10 episode “seasons” with 6 – 12 months in between! I’m talking to you too Walking Dead!

Those ARE full seasons for most cable channel shows, anywhere from 8-13 episodes. The 22-24 episode fall thru spring TV seasons aren’t as economical for them, and don’t provide enough programming variety for those channels.

I don’t mind the shorter seasons. It works for the BBC, and it means I don’t have to guess when the reruns end and the new episodes start up, plus the DVD sets are cheaper, easier to justify on a spur of the moment buy 🙂

It’s going to have to get better for me to tune in for a third season. It’s an extraordinary mediocre show imo.

I think season 2 has been a lot better than season 1. It’s not at the level of Fringe (for example), but it’s still worth watching on a regular basis.
