IDW Revives “Forgotten Realms”

IDW Revives “Forgotten Realms”

March 28, 2012 By News Droid Leave a Comment

Dungeons & Dragons: Forgotten Realms will be revived by IDW Publishing.

The publisher announced plans to launch a new ongoing series based on the fantasy property, and reprint older material originally released by DC Comics.

Forgotten Realms is a campaign setting for the Dungeons & Dragons table-top game, created by Ed Greenwood in 1967. Greenwood will team up with artists Lee Ferguson and Sal Buscema for the ongoing comic book.

“I have been avidly reading comics since I was very young (the first brand-new issue my dad bought me was published in 1962, but the old barn was filled with stacks and stacks of older comics that had lost their covers), and I still have thousands upon thousands of comics,” Greenwood told Newsarama.

“I am thrilled to get the chance to write comics – and to tell Forgotten Realms tales, to boot.”

IDW will reprint the late ’80s collection Dungeons & Dragons: Forgotten Realms 100 Page Spectacular next month, ahead of the launch of the ongoing series.
