Tribbles In Next “Trek”?

Tribbles In Next “Trek”?

November 17, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 3 Comments

Production on the next Star Trek movie kicks off January 15, 2012.

And while we don’t yet know who the villain for the film may be, some interesting rumors are cropping up on-line.

Of course,we’ve heard for a months now the Klingons will be part of the second installment.    But according to Think McFly Think, they won’t be the only familiar Trek icons to jump to the rebooted franchise.

The site says that the tribbles could be getting a make-over for the new Trek.   It lists sources close to the production saying the Klingons will be  “an intergalactic Taliban with their home-planet overrun by Tribbles. Yes, those Tribbles, here in the newly rebooted continuity viewed as “furry carnivorous creatures.””

The report also says the production is looking for filming locations to stand in for a famous Trek location.  J.J. Abrams has reportedly been scouting out locations in Hawaii for a jungle-type world.

Of course, these are all rumors at this point and should be taken with a grain of salt.  As soon as we hear something official, we’ll bring you all the details!

So “Star Trek: Critters”? Oh and while we’re at it maybe Terrence Mann would like to come on board.

I’m very concerned about the inclusion of Klingons. Will the writers stick with continuity and make them humanoid looking as they were in the original series? The genetic accident which caused their physical appearance to change happened prior to the change in the timeline…

I just do not think that the reboot bunch dives as deep into the Star Trek mythology as the fans. With the exception of Khan, which they would just love to remake.
