“Next Generation” Blu-Ray Dates Announced

May 3, 2012 By Mike Hickerson 3 Comments

Star Trek: The Next Generation is coming to Blu-Ray.

CBS/Paramount has announced that the first season of the series will hit shelves on July 24.

The set features a new transfer from the original elements to  produce new high-definition images, including amazing visual effects that have been painstakingly recreated from the source material, creating before/after results that fans will love.

Featuring numerous behind-the-scenes interviews, the new material also features Star Trek experts Mike and Denise Okuda, consultants throughout this ongoing project, who offer special insights into the countless man-hours dedicated to the upgrade of The Next Generation.

Might actually have a reason to buy a blu ray player.

The transfers of classic Trek on Blu Ray convinced me to jump into the blu Ray fold….

I purchased the “teaser” Blue-Rays TNG (episodes Encounter at Farpoint, Sins Of The Father, Inner Light) and was absolutely dazzled by what I saw. Not only was the quality of the episodes extraordinarily sharp, but the enhanced visuals for Farpoint helped to elevate that episode from what I thought was barely adequate (in terms of ILM visuals) to something which I felt was more deserving of a Star Trek episode.

I can’t wait for the entire series to be available on Blu-Ray!!!
