Hamill Retires as Voice of the Joker

Hamill Retires as Voice of the Joker

October 24, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 7 Comments

After close to two decades as the voice of the Clown Prince of Crime, actor Mark Hamill is stepping away as what many consider to be the definitive voice of the Joker.

“Hello/Goodbye Joker! I’ve enjoyed every minute behind the wheel of the Crown Prince’s crazy car – I’m going to miss him more than I can say!!” the actor tweeted last week.

His last appearance as the Joker is in the just released video game Batman: Arkham City. Hamill has provided the voice for the Joker for multiple Batman projects–both video games and animated–since his original work on Batman: The Animated Series.

I second that. When I think Joker the voice is yours. You rocked!

The animated Batman series from the 1990’s had a great set of voice actors, including Harley Quinn and Batman himself. But everyone has to call it quits sometime.

At least Kevin Conroy will be back as Batman in the upcoming Justice League: Doom movie.

Mark Hamill’s joker will be sorely missed.

I just saw somewhere that he will only return to voice the joker if they do an animated version of The Killing Joke. Now that would be a great way to end a 2 decade career right there.
