Bean Wants to Return To “Thrones”

Bean Wants to Return To “Thrones”

October 19, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 7 Comments

One of the most shocking moments in the first season of Game of Thrones was the death of Eddard Stark.

And even though Ned is dead, actor Sean Bean says he’d jump at the chance to reprise the role in flashbacks.

“I think there is in the books,” said Bean of the possibility of flashbacks. “There are apparently some flashbacks, and it would be great to see everybody again and be involved.”

“They sort of got rid of me. I had my head chopped off. But if you can come back from that, you can come back from everything, can’t you,” Bean joked.

I can understand that Sean Bean is reluctant to leave a hit show that will likely run for 6 more seasons BUT…. I am currently reading the 4th book and so far there have been no flashbacks to speak of and I think it would be lame to allocate a portion of the show’s budget to bring Mr. Bean back.

    Zombie Ned?

Maybe they can bring him back as another Stark through the clever use of makeup or a pair of horn rimmed glasses?

Theres LOTS of flashback scenes in subsequent books with Eddard, but who knows if they’ll make it into the TV shows.

I agree with Michael. And while the books don’t allow for loads of flashbacks in which Bean could make several appearances in the story over the course of the series’ run on HBO, room could be made for them onscreen. I’d love to see Bean return & believe there is plenty of opportunity for that to happen.

Actually, when I saw that episode, I noted that the 2 youngest Stark boys both had ‘dreams’ where they both saw their father down in the Stark crypt. Having not read the books, I assumed that this was setting Ed Stark up to do an ‘obi-wan’ trick and somehow have him appear as some form of ghost…

Scott, you have to read the book. The shows are great, but the book is better
