New Animated “Trek” Moving Forward

New Animated “Trek” Moving Forward

August 9, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 1 Comment

A new animated Star Trek, set in the reboot universe, is moving forward.

Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman say they’re slowly moving toward a second animated series with Kirk, Spock and McCoy.

“We have asked about [an animated Star Trek series]. We have asked what the rights are and who owns it and what are the possibilities. It is a very early – kind of “is this a possibility?” and we are waiting to hear back. But we would love to do it,” Orci says.

I think it’s a great idea. Three or four movies will NEVER give you the depth of character that a TV series can. Even if it’s an animated series. First, you get more hours with the characters. And, second, the stories do not all have to be huge, universe-changing sagas. TV affords you the opportunity to concentrate on smaller tales. Go for it!
