Clarke Reflects on First Season of “Thrones”

Clarke Reflects on First Season of “Thrones”

June 20, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 3 Comments

If you were a bit grossed out a couple of weeks ago when Daenerys ate a horse’s heart during a Dothraki ritual, you aren’t alone.  Actress Emilia Clarke says she was a bit grossed out as well.

“That was one of those amazing scenes that you get as an actor that there’s just no acting required – at all,” Clarke told New York Magazine. “It was disgusting!”

Clarke explained that the fake heart was a “congealed jam kind of thing”, saying: “They promised me that it would taste similar to a gummy bear and it definitely didn’t.

“On the outtakes, there will be me heaving into a bucket. It’s such a reflex, when you taste something that’s just so revolting, you kind of instantly just want to get rid of it. It’s safe to say that I didn’t eat lunch that day.”

This final episode of season one was totally off-the-charts awesome. Can’t believe we have to wait until Spring of 2012 to get season two. Guess I could re-read the books………Nah! I’ll wait until 2012 to get both my visual and auditory senses maxed-out.

Just finished “Feast for Crows”, and now I cannot hardly wait for the next book “Dance with Dragons”.
The television series was okay, I understand they had to make it concise, and eliminate a lot of the exposition of the book for the the television medium. I will grade it a B.

I liked the first season, but I really hope they are done with trying to give us catchphrases … “A Lannister always pays his debts” … when it becomes a drinking game, it’s already annoying.
