Upcoming “Doctor Who” Re-Release Will Include Original Music

January 19, 2011 By Mike Hickerson 2 Comments

If you’re like our news director and own a copy of Jon Pertwee’s “Spearhead from Space,” you may be wondering if the upcoming special edition release is worth buying the story again.

Several people associated with the DVD line have assured fans that an upgrade will be worth the investment. And now comes news of one restoration being made to the story–one that hasn’t been on an official release in several decades.

The story will see the Fleetwood Mac song “Oh Well Part One” restored to the soundtrack. The song was removed from the VHS releases and the DVD release to rights issues. But those have been resolved and the story will see it back in the scene at the Auton’s factory.

And the good news for world-wide fans is that the BBC has secured the rights for a worldwide release. They were unable to get worldwide rights to a Beatles song for “The Chase,” causing an edit to be made for copies sold outside the U.K.

When will they just go ahead and release full seasons of classic Doctor Who?

@Lee when they have completed restoring them, and have the ability to do so, I would think.
