“Walking Dead” TV’s Most Torrented Show

December 7, 2010 By Mike Hickerson 4 Comments

AMC made the series premiere of “The Walking Dead” available to fans on its web site.

After that, you had to have cable or satellite TV to watch the next five installments.

That may be one reason the series tops the weekly list of the more pirated shows on the Internet. TorrentFreak reports the series is the most downloaded show on TV.

As for movies, two coming to Blu-Ray and DVD films lead the list for this week. Here’s the list of the most shared films via peer-to-peer networks.

1. The Town
2. Inception
3. Despicable Me
4. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Part 1)
5. Easy A
6. Skyline
7. Legend of the Guardians
8. The Sorcerer’s Apprentice
9. The Social Network
10. Devil

AMC should put them all on their website. At least they can claim the eye’s that watched it that way. When will content providers finally get that the old TV viewing paradigm is dead or mostly dead. Get on board the web band wagon and get ahead of your competitors. I don’t expect much though seeing as the music industry still doesn’t get it either.

Yeah I reckon if the content providers put the TV-shows on torrents, in greater or equal quality to what is torrented now. They can leave commercials in.

One thing they would have to do to make sure people download their version, is to release it before the show airs.

You know, when I saw that it wasn’t on a channel I got and it wasn’t online for free I paid for a season pass through my Xbox to watch it in HD. Episodes were also available for sale on iTunes.

I’d say this is another data point in the argument that people only illegally download content that they can’t get elsewhere and that if only the studios would get on board with digital distribution then nobody would feel the need to pirate.

Well if they had an efficient system of getting these shows out to other places (ie Australia) without making us wait for a year before they sort out all their bullsh*** problems with distribution rights. I might have actually paid for the damn show on hulu if they weren’t so retarded.
