“Star Wars” Disney Figures Coming

“Star Wars” Disney Figures Coming

May 14, 2009 By Mike Hickerson 11 Comments

If you’re attending one of the Disney theme parks “Star Wars” themed weekends this summer, you’ll have the chance to pick up one or all of the figures below.  The figures have Disney characters as characters from the original “Star Wars” trilogy including Mickey as Luke Skywalker, Minnie as Princess Leia (gold bikini and all!), Goofy as Chewbaca and Donald Duck as Han Solo.

The figures retail for $195 each and you can pre-order them here.   Each figure is limited to a set of 600.

Disney has had action figure sized star wars figures for at least 2 years. Goofy Vader Rules!

I’m not sure which makes me more sad. The fact that Disney was able to offer enough money to Lucas to license Star Wars, the fact that Lucas is such a money grubbing whore that he accepted the deal, or the fact that my childhood has, once again, been sold to someone else for more money than I would need to retire comfortably…Very Comfortably.

Why must Disney co-opt everything I love? Can’t they be content with having the part of my heart reserved for plucky young hockey players and cartoon hippos in tutus?

I can’t say that I’m surprised at Lucas’s decision, though.

Why is everyone so pisseds at this? Star tours has been a part of disney world for many, many years. They’ve had Mickey gang Star Wars merchandice for that whole time – and its good stuff. I like Emperor Stitch and Darth Goofy personally, and my wife still hasn’t forgiven me for passing up the Mickey Jedi in Training print.
