stoney2.jpgBritish actor Kevin Stoney has passed away. He was 86. Stoney, best-known to fans of “Doctor Who” for his roles in two serials from the 1960’s in which he played two different villains, retired from show business in the late 1990’s.

Stoney first appeared on “Doctor Who” in the 12-part story “The Dalek Masterplan” as Mavic Chen during William Hartnell’s time as the Doctor. He went on to appear as Tobias Vaughn, a meglomaniac in league with the Cybermen in the eight-part Patrick Troughton story “The Invasion.” Stoney’s final appearance on “Doctor Who” was during Tom Baker’s first season in “Revenge of the Cybermen.”

The remaining episodes of “Dalek Masterplan” and “The Invasion” are currently available on DVD. “Dalek Masterplan” is part of the “Lost in Time” set.

Stoney had a long, distinguished career working in British theater and televison. Some of his other television credits include “Blake’s Seven,” “Quatermass,” “All Creatures Great and Small,” “I, Claudius” and “The Tomorrow People.”
