This completely built, painted and functional communicator prop with electronics includes the craftsmanship of professional prop makers who worked on the show, as well as a free display stand for your collection’s newest addition.
It’s original appearance in the Star Trek pilot, “The Cage”, the Communicator was a plexi-glass circuit-encrusted device.
In keeping with Gene Roddenberry’s vision of practical and everyday future technology, changes were called for on the second pilot, “Where No Man Has Gone Before.” Gene Roddenberry turned to his right-hand man, Robert Justman, to find a company to create a more realistic props inventory. Justman knew, having worked on the sci-fi series “Outer Limits”, a perfect special-effects shop, “Projects Unlimited”. Constructed and designed by Projects’ co-owner, Wah Ming Chang, and with input from fellow supervisor, Gene Warren, and, of course, Gene Roddenberry, the final inventory is believed to be two working Communicators (with stop-watch motorized moray-pattern) and eight non-functional. Also included is a free stand so you can proudly display your new purchase.
This is to certify that this Communicator prop has been produced from high-quality components researched from the original “STAR TREK” series (1966-1969). The master tooling pieces used for this prop are from the same elements used in the “STAR TREK: DEEP SPACE NINE” episode “TRIALS AND TRIBBLE-ATIONS” and as such, represent the first authentic Communicator available.
