Cain Talks About Guest Role on “Smallville”

October 17, 2007 By Michael Hickerson 1 Comment

The Teenager of Steel will meet the former Man of Steel this Thursday night when Dean Cain guest-stars on “Smallville.”

Cain spoke to TV Guide On-Line about his upcoming guest role on the CW’s hit series,

cain.jpg“I’m pretty evil,” the 41-year-old Cain says, laughing, of his role as Dr. Curtis Knox, a neurosurgeon who, despite working for Lex Luthor, has “sort of good intentions. He’s cured many meteor-infected patients.”

This ability to cure people with Krytonite-fueled abilities is expected to come into play on the storyline for series regular, Chloe Sullivan. But Knox may have more on his mind than just curing the would-be journalist who last season gained the ability to heal people through her long-time exposure to meteor rocks. Cain hinted that Knox has romance on his mind, though “not the way you may think.” Executive producer Al Gough cryptically elaborates that “Knox falls for parts of Chloe.”

And it appears that Knox could become a recurring character for “Smallville” in much the same way as former Man of Steel Christopher Reeve had a recurring role on the show before his untimely death.

Knox “is going to have an ax to grind with Clark,” Gough says. “He is definitely someone who could come back and cause problems in the future.”

When asked about the differences between “Smallville” and his role on “Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” Cain said, “The tone of this show is entirely different. “t takes a second to get into their world.… It’s a very different world, one that I hadn’t been a part of.”

Cain’s guest-appearance on “Smallville” airs this Thursday at 8 p.m EST on the CW.
