Daily News Has End-of-Season Rumors for Doctor Who

October 8, 2007 By Mike Hickerson 2 Comments

The fourth-season finale of the revived “Doctor Who” could be the biggest one yet, according to reports in London’s Daily News over the weekend.

Reports say that writer/producer Russell T. Davies is pulling out all the stops for this season-finale, which will feature David Tennant’s Doctor locked in battle with an old foe.

This news comes on the heels of reports that another old-school “Who” monster will return in series four.

If you want to know, keep reading. If you don’t want to know, please turn back now. Here come the SPOILERS….

sontaran.jpgThe returning monsters will be the Sontarans, who made four apperances in the original run of the show. This was widely-speculated about by fans given that the first story with the Sontarans, “The Time Warrior” makes it DVD debut later this year.

As for the season finale….

The News reports that in order to defeat this season’s big bad, the Doctor will call upon the services of all of previous new-series companions. Rumors are flying that Billie Piper will reprise her role as Rose and she’ll be joined by her family (including Mickey) in the season finale. Also on hand to help defeat this year’s big bad would be Martha Jones and new companion, Donna. Rumors also have it that K-9 and Sarah Jane Smith would return as well as Captain Jack Harkness.

The King of All Villains

davros1.jpgSo, what villain is worthy of this combined tag-team of previous companions you ask?

Rumor has it that it is Davros, the mad-genius who created the Daleks.

Of course, these rumors raise a lot of questions–such as if they’re bringing back Davros, does this mean we’ll get to see the Daleks in series four?

And, of course, we must warn readers that the Daily News’ story is just rumors and nothing has been confirmed or denied by the BBC.

Stay tuned for more on what’s happening in the Whoverse. We know David Tennett has signed on to appear in 3 special Season 5 episodes but the big question is — will he return for a full Season 5 when the show resumes in 2010?
