An as-yet-unnamed special effects technician was killed in a crash just south of London during a test shoot while in production of the new Batman film “The Dark Knight.”
The man died in an equipment truck that was carrying a camera platform. The truck crashed into a tree while following a stunt vehicle yesterday. Christian Bale and other key actors were not on the scene at the time and no other members of the crew were seriously injured.
According to British law, the government’s Health and Safety Department is investigating the particulars of the accident.
The studio said producers, director Chris Nolan, and the rest of the cast and crew “are deeply saddened by this tragedy and their hearts and prayers go out to the family and loved ones of the deceased.”
