Stargate: Atlantis Season 4

August 28, 2007 By Sam Sloan 4 Comments

tapping06.jpgJust a reminder to all Stargate fans that Season Four of “Stargate: Atlantis” will begin at the end of September and this new season promises to be the most exciting since it debuted three years ago.

Joining the cast full-time is “Stargate: SG-1” alum Amanda Tapping reprising her role from SG-1. Samantha Carter has been promoted to full-bird Colonel and is now Top Gun at the Atlantis base.

Also on hand is “Firefly”/”Serenity” actress Jewel Staite as the new base physician, taking the reigns once held by Dr. Beckett, who was killed-off last season (or was he? — stay tuned).

With the demise of “Painkiller Jane” and the rather poor showing of “Flash Gordon,” “Stargate: Atlantis” will be the SCI FI Channel’s tentpole for SCI FI Friday. This is uncharted territory for the show. In the past it was sandwiched between the long-running fan favorite “Stargate: SG-1” and the critically acclaimed, award winning “Battlestar Galactica.” Now, it will not only have to stand on its own merit, but will have to lead the pack. With Amanda Tapping in command, I think it will be up to the task.

It’s one of the few good properties they have left; here’s hoping they don’t screw it over or don’t put it in a timeslot that doesn’t do justice.

I wish it luck and hope it continues to fly the Stargate flag for many years to come just as SG-1 did.

    Can’t wait…….
