MSNBC is reporting that to stretch the normal 22-episode season of “Heroes,” it will add “Heroes:Origins” to its summer lineup to fill the gap and introduce more viewer interactivity to the programming. This move was decided on after the show slid a bit in the ratings after its long hiatus this year.
The spinoff will debut during the regular show’s summer break and introduce a new character each week, viewers will then have the opprotunity to select which character stays for the following fall season of new episodes for the regular weekly “Heroes” season.
“Heroes:Origins,” the spinoff series, is scheduled to air around 15 new episodes.
**CORRECTION**
NBC annouced today (May 15) that “Heroes:Origins” will consist of 6 new segments making a total of 30 for the full “Heroes” season.

So, that’s this summer, right?
I heard that it’s only six episodes, but this article says fifteen. I’m just wondering which one is correct.

it’s interesting how they’re bringing techniques that are used in comics to television to up viewership.
I’m anxious to see what these origin episodes will be like.

So “Origins” is seperate to the “Inside Heroes” show that’s airing over the summer as well? Hmm… interesting. I wonder what kind of format these episodes will be in, or even if it’ll be any good. After all, the introductions to this season’s Heroes worked because they tied it into the story arc straight off the bat.

Well, the Heros storyline has already indicated that there was a previous generation of mutated “Heros”, and that there was some conflict among them.
Sounds like “Origins” may flesh that out, but if so, how do they bring some of those “previous” heros (as picked by the viewers) foreward in time without aging them 20-30 years?
