March 21, 2007 By S. K. Sloan Leave a Comment

The Superman suit that actor Christopher Reeve wore when shooting the first Superman movie along with outfits from “Batman Foever” worn by Val Kilmer go up for auction on April 5, 2007 starting at 11 AM PT through the famous auction site Profiles in History. The price range is expected to mount starting at around $50,000 for these two items and could go well beyond the six figure mark.

Other items of note are the costume worn by Marlon Brando when he portrayed Superman’s father Jor-El, the original unpublished archive of transcripts of the meetings that Superman producer Ilya Salkind had with writer Mario Puzo, as well as his own personal copy of the original script. A Winkie guard costume from the Judy Garland film “The Wizard of Oz. This item starts the bid at $100,000.

There will be more Star Trek items up for bid, including the tunic Leonard Nimoy (Spock) wore in the first season of Star Trek the original series 40 years ago, Schwarzenegger’s Terminator costume from the third film in the franchise, the claws Hugh Jackman wore for the X-Men 2 feature and the lightsaber used by Samuel L. Jackson in Star Wars: Episode II — Attack of the Clones.” In a real stroke of good fortune someone will walk away with the Staff of Ra used by Harrison Ford to locate the hidden place of the Ark of the Covenant in “Raiders of the Lost Ark.”

These items and many more go up for bid on April 5th. For the serious collector this event is a must, but be ready to lay down some serious coin.
