Claire’s Dad Is a Surprise & Hiro’s Dad Cooler Than We Thought

Claire’s Dad Is a Surprise & Hiro’s Dad Cooler Than We Thought

February 6, 2007 By S. K. Sloan 14 Comments

Was everyone else as surprised as I was to finally discover who Claire’s dad was? I know it floored me and I’m not easily taken in by these kinds of things. What a revelation!

Oh, and by-the-way, Slice of SciFi fan Jeremy Linden caught this on last night’s episode: Did anyone else notice that homage to Star Trek?

Veteran Star Trek actor George Takei is playing Hiro’s father in several episodes of the popular NBC scifi series. Check out his cool license plate number on the back of his car. How great is that?

    D’OH!

I totally got “who’s-her-daddy” from last week’s preview.

But I completely missed the plate. 😉

I didn’t see last week’s preview — in fact, I try to avoid them because sometime they give too much away in that 1 to 2 min leak.

Ignore the file info on the top….I had to d/l it after I watched it live (with commercials) to confirm what I thought I saw…

I’ll say I was honestly surprised by that one… it could’ve turned into a Luke & Leia moment with Peter & Claire, only worse since he’s her Uncle.

My wife caught who the father was at the end of last week’s show. As soon as she said it, I had to agree based on the “evidence”.

And yes, I did catch the plate. Luckily, I had my DirecTV HD-DVR so that I could back it up for the rest of the family to see. It was awesome!

So now, I’m terribly curious… what other “evidence” other than the dress shirt and watch was there?

Check out the license plate in the last episode of Hero’s. After Hiro’s father (George Takai) gets in the car, his sister gives him a hug, walks around the back of the car and for a brief moment you can read the license plates…NCC-1701! Very Cool!

The dress shirt and watch refers to the preview from the week before, hinting at who Claire’s dad was going to be. In the preview, you only see the arm reaching to answer the phone. Unfortunately, for most of us diehard Heroes fans, that was enough of a clue for us to identify who it was. Not all the heroes sport the same style and level of dress as Nathan….

    Go Hiro…

I also saw the plate, and had to back up the TiVo for the wife to see it! That was a great little homage for them to do that.

Thanks Bruce, my…er..TiVo didn’t record that part.

I have been looking for anyone else who caught Sylar using Eden’s Persuasion voice on Claire’s mother in “Distractions” the episode with the “NCC 1701” plate. I did have a slight suspicion when Eden blew her brains out she merely blew them open for Sylar to get what he needed. All this time he was faking being drugged and was manipulating the doctor. I also find it odd that after the Sylar meeting Claire’s mother’s mind wipe is going very wrong.
