TOS — DVD/HD-DVD

January 18, 2007 By Sam Sloan 2 Comments

star-trek1frontpage.jpgAs if I had nothing else to spend my hard-earned money on The Hollywood Reporter has announced that “Star Trek: The Original Series” is going to be released on DVD/HD-DVD Combo format at the end of 2007.

I’ve already shelled out over $300 purchasing the first release of the 3-year series on DVD over the past couple of years. Now, I have to rake-up a few hundred more for these when they become available (more likely not until sometime in 2008). Not only that, I will have to trade in my 50 inch big-screen analog TV for a finer/sleeker looking HD 60″ entertainment center which will set me back several thousands of dollars. But, I’m confident my loving and dear wife will understand. Ahhh, the price of being a scifi geek gets steeper and steeper with each passing day.

Ask her if you can build a home entertainment room like that guy who recreated the Star Trek bridge. Show her the pictures and let her know in no uncertain terms how much it will cost.

Then when she’s done laughing, grudgingly “settle” for the 60″ HD upgrade.
