Push For Season 5 of “Enterprise” Continues With Sci FI Channel

October 3, 2006 By S. K. Sloan 7 Comments

The folks over at Trek United have never given up on the idea of a season five for Star Trek: Enterprise and now that the show has been picked up for syndication on The SCI FI Channel, the organizers of the Save Enterprise campaign are focussing their attention there for a possible fifth season. In a surprise announcement, one of the leaders of the campaign who goes by the screen name AussieTrek released this call to all members of the Trek United website and to anyone interested in helping with the 5th Season Campaign:

This week, the fans of Star Trek are encouraged to participate in the preparation of the postcard campaign to Sci Fi Channel. The organizers are hoping to persuade the Sci Fi Channel (the new home of syndicated Star Trek: Enterprise reruns), to negotiate with CBS Corporation for the continued production of new episodes of Enterprise. We are asking everyone to choose their favorite “slogans” for use on the postcards to kick off the mailing phase of the resurgent campaign.

With the syndication of Enterprise scheduled to begin in fall of this year (exact dates were not available at press time), we believe this to be an opportune chance to propose the production of a fifth and continuing seasons of Enterprise, and for negotiations for said production to commence between CBS Corporation and the Sci Fi Channel. If they hear from enough fans, Sci Fi may be persuaded to finance further seasons of Star Trek: Enterprise.

Bad thing is, the actors I’m sure are already trying to find more gainful employment… It’s hard to go without a paycheck for an extended time when your used to living at a certain level… Bills still come in each month even for actors…

“If they hear from enough fans, Sci Fi may be persuaded to finance further seasons of Star Trek: Enterprise.”

Would be nice, but don’t forget: It costs lots of money–LOTS–to produce an fx-laden sci-fi show.
SciFi is already paying for the likes of “Eureka” (yay!).
Plus, though The Franchise is gone on TV, isn’t there a movie in pre-production? I’m thinking Paramount isn’t ready to hand Star Trek over to anyone else for production (aka profits) just yet.

I agree with tllgrrl. SciFi cannot give itself te luxury to finance Galactica and the other upcoming dramas for 2007, while trying to revive a failed Show.

Now, on the other hand, they could talk to Paramount and get THEM to start working on a TV spinoff of the 11th movie, maybe helmed by JJ Abrahams… well, one can always dream, right?

I have been waiting for Enterprise to be announced by Scifi? its mid November and still not a word. Maybe they are holding off untill they can make the commercials even louder than they are now.

I admit I only watch Enterprise few times when it original aired. I now have watch ever episode and I am hooked. I pray that maybe SCI FI channel may think of producing the last 3 episodes. I weird watch Tripp and he reminds me of home. I was born in FL, I am 9th generation Floridian and now I live in AZ. When I watch Tripp, I think of home. My 9 year old son watches Enterprise and says he wants to be a captain of a starship. He has learned a lot about science, tolerance, and hope. Now I hope that they will bring Enterprise back.

    Hello fellow Star Trek fans,

Today William Shatner was on a History Channel documentary of Star Trek and its impact on our culture. Its amazing how the show inspired millions of people throughout the world. Star Trek is creditted for alot of the computer advances that inspired great people in the computer industry and areospace field. That being said, I too didn’t feel Enterprise had the magic of its predecessors, however after watching it for a while, I am hooked. I own all of the Star Trek Series and usually follow any new develpments. If not for the fans, Star Trek could not have had the influences it has on our society and therefore alot of cool inventions wouldn’t be around today. For that reason alone, any Star Trek Series, including Enterprise has a significant contribution to make. Come on guys, make season 5,6, and 7. Years from now, you will be glad you did.
