We reported on this about a month ago, but with the new Doctor taking on the Cyberman we thought it would be good to remind everyone that those infamous lost two episodes from 1968 about the Cybermen Invasion have been redone in full animation by Cosgrove Hall studio overlaid with the original voice track, and have been released for purchase on DVD later this year.
This Invasion stars Patrick Troughton as the Second Doctor in a battle with the Cybermen. Episodes One and Four from this eight-part story have long been missing from the BBC’s archives, but thankfully the soundtracks survived.
A 30-second teaser is available at the BBC Doctor Who website.
Mark in St. Louis says
Since I didn’t get PBS when I was a kid, I never got to watch the Doctor until I was older. When I did, I would catch only an episode here or there, and it wouldn’t make much sense to me. After getting hooked with the current incarnation, I have full intentions of watching some of the earlier Doctors. The animation of the missing episodes is the perfect idea. Watch the trailer. It’s short, but I think it works a whole lot better than audio only.
Also, this set isn’t out yet. It’s scheduled to be released in November.
