Doctor Gates?

April 4, 2006 By S. K. Sloan 7 Comments

Silicon.com is reporting that Microsoft chairman and co-founder Bill Gates will be guest starring in an upcoming episode in the new UK season of Doctor Who.

Bill will play, well… Bill. Due to air later this year (November 21, 2006 for UK, Australian and Canadian viewers) with Bill starring opposite David Tennant and Billie Piper.

The real-life mega-billonaire and world’s richest person will portray a rich software tycoon (what else?) that is on a fishing vacation and ends up being abducted by the evil alien Lord Daz Fenster (Derek Walker). The Doctor and Rose are commissioned by the White House to find Gate’s character and bring Fenster to justice.

Silicon.com states that a spoiler site is claiming that Gates will be revealed himself to be an alien (as if that would come as a shock to anyone).

This will not be Bill’s first acting gig. He voiced an episode of “The Simpsons” and also appeared on NBC’s Frasier with Kelsey Grammer.

This is not going to happen. I have a friend who works on Doctor Who and this is nothing but a false rumour.

Please, dear God, don’t tell me that you thought this was real. It was an April Fools joke. Same as the article about Wonder Woman was an April Fools joke.

Glad to see it didn’t take some of our fans too long to catch that — thus the sly look in Bill’s posted pic.

That is one reason I posted the link to Silicon.com so everyone could see what day it came out on and read it with a glint in the eye and a tongue in the cheek. But it’s a great filler for an otherwise slow news day.

Should have known you guys are just too quick. 😉

Apologies for my co host. He’s just a whole lot gullible. I guess the April 1 publication date of the story was lost on him. 🙂

Now you know why I didn’t do anything to him on Satuday. It’s too easy!

Evo, when Mike sent me the story I had a good laugh knowing it was a great April Fool’s joke, but I also had that devil glint in my eye knowing he probably wasn’t aware that it was. You gotta love his innocence.

That’s one of the things that makes working with you guys such a joy…your honesty, and in some cases naïvety. It’s real, fresh, fun, and you guys are the genuine article. That is unique in the world of broadcasting and having been in this game for a long time, let me tell you that is rare to find, but you two have it and it is pure pleasure on my part just being involved with you and Mike and those rowdy Kick-Ass Mystic Ninjas.
