Who would of ‘thunk it?’ After 19 years on the small screen, Homer and the entire Simpson clan are finally coming to the big screen. It’s been a long and overdue wait but “The Simpsons: The Movie” will be in theaters July 27, 2007.
Moviegoers who went to see this weekend’s premiere of the Ray Romano animated flick “Ice Age: The Meltdown” were pleasantly surprised when the coming attractions began and up on the screen popped a giant “S” with an announcer booming out “Leaping his way onto the silver screen, the greatest hero in American history.” Then the camera pans to Homer lounging on his couch in his boxers looking perplexed as usual and says, “I forgot what I was supposed to say.” Then the announcer gives the release date and Homer, staring down at his toes looking quite disinterested, follows with “Uh, uh, we better get started.”
Matt Groening and James L. Brooks originally brought “The Simpsons” on the air in 1987 as part of the Tracey Ullman Show and the animated feature was so successful that in 1989 it spunoff and became one of the longest running and most successful nightime adult cartoons on record.
The trailer has been a hit already with the fans so you can only imagine the reponse this movie will receive.
