Berman Assistant Says More Trek Not Likely Soon

February 26, 2006 By S. K. Sloan 1 Comment

Dreamwatch Magazine is reporting that Paramount has rejected Erik Jendresen’s “STAR TREK: The Beginning” script.

The news comes from Doug Mirabello, a personal assistant to long-time STAR TREK producer Rick Berman. According to Mirabello all previous reports of a STAR TREK movie or TV series, and that Patrick Stewart was being actively sought after by the studio were nothing more than rumors. “It’s more likely that some executive had a casual conversation with him and brought up some hypotheticals which he ran with when some reporter asked him about Star Trek…,” Mirabello said. “[But] there’s a chance that someone else at Paramount is planning something huge and keeping us out of the loop. From what I’ve heard, Patrick wouldn’t do another Trek movie unless they paid him Professor X money…”

Mirabello’s statements have not been rejected or accepted as fact by anyone higher up in the Paramount foodchain, and until they are then this is just one more rumor being filed out of Hollywood’s corridors of gossip.

Let’s hope this rumor is true, at least until Berman and all his vermin are caged somewhere their taint can’t corrupt any new attempts to revive the franchise.
