Star Trek’s Digital Domain Enters A New Era With CBS

February 4, 2006 By S. K. Sloan Leave a Comment

STARTREK.COM is off to a great start in 2006

This year marks the 40th anniversary of Star Trek, and we look forward to the next 40 years as we enter the brave new world of emerging technology platforms. Also this year, the official STARTREK.COM Web site joined the family of outstanding CBS Digital Media sites, under the direction of parent company CBS Corporation.

The change occurred in early January when Viacom, the prior owner of STARTREK.COM, split into two separate companies: CBS Corporation and Viacom Inc. STARTREK.COM proudly takes its new place alongside CBS Digital Media’s excellent on-line offerings including: CBS.com, CBSNews.com and CBS SportsLine.com. We are incredibly excited about the opportunities inherent in this new organization.

Given the strength and longevity of the Star Trek franchise, CBS is committed to keeping Star Trek healthy and strong. CBS Corporation is well positioned to serve Star Trek fans through STARTREK.COM and through its other Star Trek-related properties which include: a television library with more than 700 episodes of the Star Trek series; Simon & Schuster/Pocket Books, which publishes all official Star Trek books; and CBS Consumer Products, which creates and distributes licensed Star Trek merchandise.

Thank you for your continued interest and participation on STARTREK.COM. We look forward to celebrating our 50th, 60th and beyond together with you, the most dedicated fans in the galaxy.

May Star Trek — and STARTREK.COM — live long, and prosper!
