Japanese filmmaker Takashi Miike’s entry into Showtime’s Masters of Horror series, “Imprint”, is so horrifying that the cable network has slashed it from the program’s lineup.
Series creator Mick Garris told The New York Times, “…it’s even hard for me to watch.” If you have seen even a little of Masters of Horror then you already know that if Garris was unable to watch it, then it must be pretty terrifying with a capital T.
“Imprint” is about an American journalist living in Japan during the 19th Century. He finds an island full of brothels, deformed people and bizzare imagery. There is really much more to it than that but I want to keep this article PG-13.
Not to be undone however, Miike will see his “Imprint” released direct to DVD along with the rest of the episodes in the Masters of Horror series.
